MEET JIM
Clients trust Jim because he dedicates himself to achieving their goals, then exceeds expectations. Highly strategic, he has the unique capacity to both deeply understand and broadly imagine possibilities for client brands. Over the years, he has guided innumerable clients as they stake out ownable territory, establish strong brands, and change how patients are treated. Along the way, Jim has built meaningful relationships with client partners, becoming a key part of their marketing teams and continuing to work with them over the years.
An expert in marketing strategy, Jim has led US and global teams through all stages of development, from discovery and early commercial assessment through to pre-launch brand development and through post-launch. He has helped propel the success of pharmaceuticals, ingenious diagnostics, and life-changing biologics. With more than 25 years’ experience, Jim has knowledge and expertise in many major therapeutic categories.
Jim is also a musician who played bass guitar with his band in venues across the US. Now the stage is different: His passion is healthcare performance and achieving great things for clients at Ardelis Health.
Jim received his BA from University of Pennsylvania and his MBA in marketing, with honors, from the Fox School of Business at Temple University.

Michael A. Barnett, MD, DPhil

MEET MICHAEL
Dr. Michael Barnett graduated Phi Beta Kappa from University of Pennsylvania with a double major in history and biochemistry. He went on to earn a DPhil from Oxford, followed by an MD from Penn. He didn’t follow the typical pre-med path, and when you know him, that makes perfect sense. Michael is that very rare person whose vision and ideas come from a unique and comprehensive skill set. As a physician and scientist, Michael communicates the intricacies of medicine and therapeutics. As a marketer, he leverages data and deep insights to deliver market-shaping programs for Ardelis Health clients.
For more than 25 years, Michael has applied his training as a physician, scientist, and marketer to design innovative initiatives that impact public health. He has worked with emerging and major pharmaceutical firms on marketing strategy, thought leader development, and the launch of important niche products and paradigm-shifting drugs such as GLIVEC/GLEEVEC. He has participated in the evaluation of emerging therapeutics and technologies, and he has worked in healthcare administration, reviewing the quality and delivery of inpatient healthcare services.
An otolaryngologist by training, Michael has expertise in a broad range of therapeutic areas. With his characteristic humor, combined with a breadth of experience, Michael is adept at gathering stakeholders and uncovering key insights that help clients achieve success.

Timmy Garde

MEET TIMMY
Timmy is a trailblazer in the life sciences industry. Over the years, he has built a legacy of lasting relationships, prominent brand launch success, unique partnerships, and notable growth among Fortune-ranked pharmaceutical and healthcare leaders.
As a high-energy life sciences executive, Timmy has spearheaded many successful and strategic initiatives for clients. By launching Leaders in Life Sciences roundtable events, achieving front-page coverage in The Wall Street Journal for a leading diagnostic laboratory company, and creating Forging a Career in Branding events attended by over 1,800 students at Penn State’s Smeal College of Business, Timmy has secured relationships with leading global healthcare entities and respective individuals.
At Ardelis Health, Timmy focuses on growth initiatives, forming industry-leading alliances and eliciting talented thought leadership connections. Client innovators benefit from Timmy’s deep experience in positioning, growth, and brand launch strategies—as well as his ability to reach, inspire, and galvanize target audiences.
Since 2012, Timmy has been recognized twice as one of the PharmaVoice 100 most inspiring people and twice as a PM360 Top 100 Elite Transformational Leader. In March 2023, Timmy was honored with the 2023 Smeal College of Business Service Award. In 2025, Timmy was added to the Board of Directors of The Hall (Medical Advertising Hall of Fame) and Executive Leadership Team of the Women’s Health Advocates (WHA), a leading women’s health advocacy organization. In May 2026, Timmy was awarded with the 2026 Penn State Charles Lupton Volunteer of the Year Award.
Timmy earned a BS from Penn State Smeal College of Business and completed the Executive Business Program at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

As an experienced chief digital officer, Barry Hurd provides digital innovation and technology strategy on complex business processes being affected by new technology trends. His project portfolio includes collaborations with Microsoft, Amazon, Walmart, Verizon, and The Wall Street Journal, among others. His impact spans a variety of sectors including life sciences, talent intelligence, entertainment, hospitality, and defense, where he has left an indelible mark on industry leaders.
As a dynamic speaker and author, Barry has taken the global stage to demystify digital innovation, sharing his thought leadership with audiences worldwide. His expertise makes him a sought-after voice for businesses aiming to navigate the intricate digital landscape and emerge as leaders in the age of constant technological change.

Melissa Scherkoske, MSPH

MEET MELISSA
Melissa Scherkoske is a senior-level strategist and applied researcher with more than 20 years of experience shaping healthcare communications through evidence-based thinking. She is known for translating complex scientific, behavioral, and market data into integrated brand strategies and for leading high-performing teams that bring those strategies to life with insight, rigor, and purpose.
At Ardelis Health, Melissa leads strategic consulting, research, and brand planning across therapeutic areas, integrating health equity, behavioral science, and real-world insights to drive impactful communications. Her expertise spans health communications strategy, applied research, and cross-functional consulting—bringing scientific rigor and strategic clarity to complex challenges across the product lifecycle.
Melissa holds a Master of Science in Public Health (Health, Behavior, and Society) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she also served as a Teaching Assistant, Research Assistant, and Co-chair of the Health, Behavior and Society Student Organization. A published researcher, her work spans peer-reviewed publications, community-based research, and academic instruction. Melissa’s research focuses on the social and behavioral determinants of health outcomes, including health literacy in provider/patient communications, shared decision-making in clinical encounters, vaccine decision-making and health disparities, and the psychosocial and cultural factors shaping patient needs. Her peer-reviewed publications reflect this applied, equity-oriented approach. Before her MSPH, Melissa earned a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Rutgers University—a foundation that informs her human-centered approach to strategy and research. She is a recognized Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) Rising Star.

Lauren Ruotolo is an award-winning content and social director with more than 20 years of experience shaping brand narratives, executive thought leadership, and integrated marketing campaigns for Fortune 500 companies, healthcare innovators, startups, and mission-driven organizations. Throughout her career, she has helped organizations transform complex ideas into compelling stories that build trust, grow audiences, and inspire action. She has led strategic content, social media, video production, and partnership initiatives for Johnson & Johnson executive team and corporate brand communications, Hearst Magazines, large consumer magazines, TV Guide Magazine, and CURE, producing award-winning campaigns that have generated hundreds of millions of views while driving measurable business impact.
Lauren is recognized for combining editorial instincts with data-driven strategy to create content that resonates across every platform—from executive communications and live events to digital campaigns and social storytelling. She is a passionate advocate for women’s health and disability inclusion. She believes that the most successful brands are built through authenticity, purpose, and meaningful human connection.

Sarah M. Meador
Account Director
MEET SARAH
Sarah has more than 20 years’ experience creating medical communication initiatives for her clients. She has worked in the agency, academic medical center, and healthcare foundation environments in creating promotional as well as CME/independent medical education programming for professional healthcare and patient audiences.
Sarah has partnered with US and global commercial and medical affairs teams in developing market-shaping disease education across the product and portfolio lifecycle, ensuring that all content is aligned to strategic and scientific messaging. Over the course of her career, she has worked on brands within the gastrointestinal, epilepsy, depression, schizophrenia, pain management, oncology, Alzheimer’s disease, and infectious diseases therapeutic categories.
She has extensive experience in creating clinical trial awareness and recruitment materials that adhere to US and country-specific guidelines including websites, media campaigns, congress initiatives, and trial site materials. Peer-to-peer initiatives include advisory boards, steering committee and investigator meetings, speaker slide decks, MOA and scientific leader videos, interactive case studies, speaker training, congress booth activities, scientific posters, industry expert theaters and symposia at congresses, and publication planning. She has served as team lead on agency of record accounts and successfully worked on several integrated accounts with agency partners.
Sarah earned her Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and international business from Pennsylvania State University. She is most proud of establishing long-standing relationships with both clients and thought leaders and helping bring data to life to help patients and their families.

Jerry Amari
Creative Director
MEET JERRY
Jerry is an award-winning creative director of integrated consumer and professional communication programs.
Before joining the Ardelis Health team, Jerry held creative positions at M Health and was senior vice president, group creative director at Digitas Health, where he worked with the agency’s most prestigious clients. He likes to say that his brand experience ranges from Ambien to Zoloft, with a huge dose of device, biotech, and institutional work in between.
Prior to moving to Philadelphia, Jerry worked in New York as a graphic designer and advertising art director. He has been a consultant to such prestigious firms as Creative Alliance and Pentagram Design. During his tenure at Oppenheimer Advertising, he spent evenings working on his MS degree in communication design at Pratt Institute.
He has won numerous creative awards, including The ADDYs, The Global Awards, the Art Directors Club, Creativity, In-Awe, phAME, eHealthcare Awards, The Rx Club, and the New York Festival’s World Medal. He has been a judge for the New York Advertising Festival, The Rx Awards, and The Art Directors Club of New Jersey.
Jerry enjoys photography, writing poetry, music recording, woodworking, and biking, and he is a kick-ass lead guitar player.
